The World Poker Tour is catering to the ladies ! With numbers increasing in the female poker playing arena, the WPT is launching an official ladies league and No Limit Texas Hold Em tournament circuit. One of the biggest benefits of playing in the WPT ladies league is the smaller buy-ins. Tournament buy-ins will range from $300 - $1,500, thus providing an opportunity for players in the beginner, intermediate, and advanced range to go head to head. At each stop, ladies will have an opportunity win a WPT title and a seat in the WPT Ladies Championship.
“Women are a rising force in poker,” said Robyn Moder, executive vice president of WPT Studios. “By bringing a WPT ladies league and tour stops to gaming destinations across the U.S., we hope to support and perpetuate the evolution of the sport and recognition of the women who play.”
January 20th kicks off season one of the WPTL tour at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, NJ. Other tournaments will be featured at Commerce Casino in Los Angeles, CA, Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut and Bay 101 in San Jose, CA. Eventually, the Ladies Tour will conclude in Sin City at none other than the world class Bellagio. The winner of the $1,500 Championship Tournament at the Bellagio will receive the title, a cash prize and will be featured on GSN, the new home of the WPT.
The World Poker Tour has partnered with Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists in an effort to help end breast cancer. Participants will have an opportunity to become involved in the fight by donating at each tour stop and 15 percent of each $1,500 buy-in at the WPTL Championship will go to the Komen for Cure fund.
