Regette Bechara Wins the first World Poker Tour Ladies League

The Borgata is home to one of the largest and most plush poker rooms in Atlantic City. It is the poker room of choice for seasoned veterans in the poker community. The Borgata Winter Open is taking place January 15 – January 31st and The World Poker Tour Ladies League (WPTL) kicked off as one of the events. The first event in this series was No Limit Hold Em and had a $300 buy-in.

Regette Bechara walked away as the victor of the first WPTL. She scored $33,000 in cash and won a seat into the $1,500 WPTL Championship slated to take place at The Bellagio in Las Vegas.

A record 383 women entered the tournament and the prize pool was nearly $115,000.

Regette has a series of other wins under her belt. She took 2nd place in the 2004 Limit Texas Hold Em Grand American Poker Classic, 4th place the next year in the very same event and more recently she took 4th place at the 2007 Venetian Deep-Stack Extravaganza II.

The next stop in this series is on February 2 and 3rd at the Commerce Casino in sunny Los Angeles. The stakes will be higher in California, as the buy-in is $970.
