On January 22, 2008, WPT Enterprises, Inc. announced the launch of two new endeavors – CLUBWPT, a subscription-based gaming site, and a partnership with STATS LLC to provide a poker industry database. Both are available through WorldPokerTour.com.



The subscription site CLUBWPT is an online club and gaming platform that offers poker and blackjack tournaments. WPT Enterprises is targeting the U.S. audience with this project as those players are supposedly restricted from any other type of online wagering. In essence, the site is established as a sweepstakes site, and a monthly subscription offers the access to unlimited play.

There are points given upon enrollment, which may be used to enter into over 4,000 live poker and elimination blackjack tournaments, sit-n-go’s and ring games. In return, there are over $100,000 cash and prizes up for grabs each month. Some of those prizes include entries into World Poker Tour events worth $10,000, a flat screen HD television, shopping sprees, cruises, and jewelry. Subscribers will also receive discount offers such as magazine subscriptions to All-In Magazine and Las Vegas hotel rooms, meals, and show tickets.

CLUBWPT is currently offering a two-week free trial to allow players to sample what the website has to offer. However, in order to participate in the free trial, the person must provide a credit card number to be charged for a monthly subscription at $19.95 per month, a quarterly billing of $50.85, or an annual billing of $155.40.

Also new on the WPT website is the aforementioned database. In conjunction with STATS, a company that provides data collection and analysis for 85 sports leagues, including MLB, NFL, and NBA, the database will compile information from every WPT tournament ever played. The result will be the ability to search for statistics on each player’s style, situations played, trends, etc.
