Name: Annie Duke

Nickname: None

Date of birth: 9/13/65

Place of Birth: Concord, NH

Currently residing: LA, CA

Favorite song to listen to before tournament that gets you pumped up: Lately it has been The Black Eyed Peas “Pump It”

Craziest prop bet: Hmmm…I am not a big prop better but my brother and I once bet my boyfriend, Joe, 2,500 he couldn’t eat a whole dessert plate full of rice when we were in Baden, Austria. The rules were he has to eat the whole thing and was not allowed to drink anything while eating it and if he threw up while eating it he would have to eat that too to win. He was allowed to throw up after it was done. Clearly it was the worst rice ever (some kind of disgusting saffron, champagne rice that was inedible…that is putting it nicely). Joe ate the plate but threw up 4 times after he was done and was sick for about 24 hours after. But he won the bet!

Favorite places to travel: Florence, Boston, New York, Mexico

What do you like to do in your spare time: Sleep! And exercise (mostly running lately). Of course, mainly my free time is spent with my kids but I am talking about the non-work, non-kid time.

Any celebrity crushes: hmmm...not really. Joe is my crush 

If you weren't playing poker what career would you have: I can never answer that question, which is why I must be a poker player.
I guess I would be in some sort of teaching.

What is something no one knows about you:
I am actually very private. I am extroverted and open about certain things but my privacy is very guarded.

Favorite movie: Marathon Man

Hobbies: Shopping, cooking and baking, running.

Describe yourself in three words: Loyal, fierce, loving

What are you most proud of in your life: My four children.

What is your favorite smell: Vanilla

Favorite taste: Anything crunchy and salty

Favorite sound: My kids laughing

Biggest impulse purchase: Hmmm….I don’t really buy anything on impulse…that is so boring! But I have four kids; I need to be conscientious with my money!

What do you spend your money on: School for my kids mostly and Whole Foods…you would be surprised how much that costs per month with as many mouths to feed as I have…

What is a day in your life like outside of playing poker: Wake up at 7:45 am and make breakfast for the kids…usually something like whole grain banana pancakes with turkey bacon…send them off to school, then go running for an hour. If I have time, I go to the gym for 45 minutes after that. I usually have writing to do after that since I do two articles a month plus am writing two books right now. My kids get home around 4:30 and we usually cook together after they are done with homework. I get them to bed and then Joe and I will sometimes go to a movie or to dinner or we will just collapse after a long day. Boring really!

How many tournaments do you play a year: about 25 to 30.

How do you celebrate when you make a big score, either tournaments, cash, online or live:
I usually don’t. I will go to a nice dinner with friends. That is about it.

What are you up to now: I just got back from Australia and now am catching up on work at home before heading to London to play in the Premier Poker League event there. Also, the reality show I did with Phil Hellmuth is going to start airing in February. That should be interesting.

WSOP Bracelets: 1

WSOP cashes: Um…36 I think?

Records held: Most cashes by a woman at the WSOP, Most pregnant woman at a WSOP Main Event.
