The new face and UK ambassador for Absolute Poker is not a well-known poker professional poker player, but the website is betting that she will nonetheless be a popular addition to the site. Television host and model Liv Boeree was introduced to the public in the third week of February and is already active on the site.

Raised in Kent, the education-minded young woman rode horses competitively and played sports before moving to the University of Manchester to study physics. She graduated in 2005 with a degree in astrophysics and moved to London. Boeree also started playing poker in 2005 when she was selected for the television show UltimatePoker.com Showdown which aired on The Poker Channel. She has since played in numerous tournaments in the UK and was subsequently chosen by Gutshot TV to travel to Las Vegas for interviews with poker pros and celebrities. She was then chosen as Challenge TV’s internet video coverage hostess for the third season of the EPT.

The poker enthusiast has been schooled in poker by Phil Hellmuth, Annie Duke, and Dave “Devilfish” Ulliott. She has a tournament win in 2006 to her credit when she outlasted 120 other players in a one-day event. She also came in 7th in the Welsh Amateur Poker Championships in 2008.

Signing on with Absolute Poker is something Boeree is excited to be doing, as she will be an integral part of the site’s UK marketing program and will represent the company in tournaments throughout Europe and online.

Boeree’s bio on the Absolute Poker website notes that she was born in 1984, has done modeling, and plays lead guitar. In trivial news, she owns a bearded dragon pet lizard, listens to heavy metal music, is an air guitar competitor, and drinks Jack & Coke.

Boeree will be playing in numerous tournaments on the Absolute Poker gaming site with a bounty on her head. Any player who eliminates her from a tournament wins triple the buy-in back, and any one person who eliminates her twice, wins $1000. She will also be blogging on the site about her experiences in poker.
