When Jean-Robert Bellande arrived at the 2008 L.A. Poker Classic main event, he was sporting a Bodog patch and rumored to have been signed with Bodog. However, there was no proof of an official deal until a press release hit the internet on March 1st. It seems that it is a done deal.
Bodog officially announced that Bellande is the newest member of Team Bodog. He will join the team that already consists of David Williams, Josh Arieh, and Evelyn Ng, and he will represent Bodog at major tournaments and events around the world. The first sighting was at the LAPC, but he also appeared at the 2008 NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas sporting his Bodog gear.
The long time professional poker player and more recent reality television star – on the CBS show Survivor: China – has earned the nickname “Action Bob” for his aggressive style at the poker tables, and he is known for the ability to out-talk any other player within range. He has amassed nearly $800,000 in tournament winnings throughout his career, and years of cash game earnings are undisclosed.
Bodog North American CEO Alwyn Morris said, “We’re extremely excited to have Jean-Robert join our select team of world-class poker players. With his charismatic personality and his prowess as a poker player, Jean-Robert embodies the Bodog lifestyle. He is a perfect fit for Team Bodog.”
And Bellande himself stated, “I’m completely thrilled to be on Team Bodog and to join my friends Josh, David and Evy. I’m planning to make a lot of noise in 2008 for myself and Bodog, starting with the National Heads-Up Poker Championship this weekend and at the WSOP this summer.”
Though Bellande was eliminated in the first round of the aforementioned heads-up tournament by fellow trash talker Sam Grizzle, numerous tournaments await the newly sponsored pro. Bodog just might be the perfect fit for Bellande.
