Pacific Poker Hosts Online Poker League

Poker Network has announced the launch of the new Online Poker League that is set to launch on Sunday, March 9th at 8pm. A partnership with Pacific Poker will provide the platform for the league that will run 12 rounds over the next six weeks.

The Online Poker League will be held each Wednesday and Sunday evening for those six weeks, and points will be awarded during each of the twelve rounds. Events featured in the series will include no-limit hold’em, six-handed, and pot-limit Omaha variations.

Players at all limits are encouraged to play, with the Wednesday tournament buy-ins at $20 + $2 and the Sunday buy-ins at $50 + $5. Prizes will be awarded to winners of each, in addition to overall points winners. At the end of the twelve rounds of play, the players with the most points from each day’s series, and the three overall point’s finishers, will receive entries into the final tournament to be held on Sunday, April 20th.

Those nine players will compete for a seat valued at $1100 into the Melbourne Championship’s main event that begins on May 23rd. In fact, the entire prize package – courtesy of Pacific Poker – will contain flight and hotel accommodations along with the tournament entry which combine to create a $2500 prize package.

During the Online Poker League, Pacific Poker will also be running numerous satellite events for the World Poker Crown (WPC) on April 26th. The $3 million guaranteed tournament will start online and send the eight finalists to play in a live tournament for the $1 million first prize. Each satellite will include an added seat to the World Poker Crown worth $1,050.

(Rumor alert: Superstar Shane Warne may make a guest appearance – or two – during the Online Poker League and have a bounty on his head.)
