PokerStars Tournament Leader Boards

Playing in tournaments on PokerStars can have obvious rewards, like enjoying poker, gaining experience, improving one’s game, and winning cash and prizes. But there is also that competitive side to most of us that wants to see our names on the leader board. For all of the time and effort put into playing tournaments, it would be nice to get some recognition.

You want it? You got it! PokerStars now provides that, too.

The PokerStars Multi-Table Tournament Leader Boards allow all players to gauge their progress via points. Tournament Leader Board (TLB) points are awarded each time a player finishes in the top 15% of a regular multi-table tournament (MTT), with the amount of points varying based on the buy-in of the tournament, number of entries, and position in which one finishes. There are three weekly leader boards.

The Weekly Leader Board takes a player’s ten best results from all of the tournaments played between 12am on Sunday to 11:59pm (all EST) on Saturday. The player with the highest weekly score is then scheduled to play a member of Team PokerStars in a heads-up challenge match in which the TLB winner chooses the game. The match will be played on the following Sunday with a prize pool that starts at $1000 and carries over to the next week if the PokerStars Pro wins.

The Monthly Tournament Leader Board tracks a player’s best 20 results from all of the tournaments played between 12am on the first day of the month and 11:59pm (all EST) on the last day of the month. Those finishing in the top 200 of the month will share $30,000 in cash prizes with first place being awarded $5000 of it. And the top 1000 players of the month will each receive a ticket to play in the $20,000 monthly TLB freeroll.

Finally, there is the Yearly Tournament Leader Board that takes a player’s best 100 results from all tournaments played throughout the calendar year and awards the winner a five-stamp PokerStars Passport. This includes tournament buy-ins, hotel accommodations, and spending money for five major PokerStars-sponsored live tournaments around the world. Players who finish in second and third place for the year will win three-stamp and two-stamp PokerStars Passports respectively.

While the incentive of merely working one’s way up the leader board may be enough for some, others may want to grab some of those prizes available to those at the top of the board. No matter the reason, PokerStars is the place to play!
