Harman to Support NSPCA Again with April Tourney

Jennifer Harman is an advocate for animals, most specifically in the form of her support of the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA). Last year, she hosted a charity tournament and raised over $130,000 for the no-kill animal shelter. Last month, she raised $30,000 via an online charity tournament on Full Tilt Poker. And she is prepared to do more.

The Second Annual Jennifer Harman Charity Poker Tournament has been scheduled for Friday, April 18th at the Venetian’s poker room in Las Vegas. The recommended donation to participate in the tournament is $300 + $30, and there will be $200 rebuys available during the first three rounds, as well as a $200 add-on. Matt Savage will serve as the Tournament Director, and the first prize will be a $10,000 buy-in to the 2008 World Series of Poker main event.

The festivities will begin that day with a red carpet reception starting at 2pm. In addition to the poker tournament set to begin at 3pm, there will be a silent auction with numerous items up for bid. In the mix will be a Pete Rose and Jennifer Harman dinner package, and sports memorabilia autographed by some of the biggest names in sports – Pete Rose, Dan Marino, Dick Butkus, Peyton and Eli Manning, Emmit Smith, Bill Parcels, Phil Simms, L.T. Adams, Joe Montana, Joe Namath, John Elway, and Jim Plunkett.

There will also be a live auction held during the breaks of the tournament hosted by Robert Williamson III. Items available for bidding will include memorabilia from “The Simpsons Movie” and autographed poker items from Jennifer Harman, Howard Lederer, TJ Cloutier, and Doyle Brunson.

The list of confirmed poker players participating in the tournament includes many of the most notable players in the game, like Brunson, Chan, Lederer, Hellmuth, Negreanu, Corkins, Cloutier, Lindgren, Deeb, Gazes, Esfandiari, Hachem, Alaei, Greenstein, Liu, Flack, Violette, Ferguson, Sebok, Mizrachi, and Nguyen (Scotty and Men). It will be a who’s who of the professional poker world. And Kirk Morrison, last year’s winner of the WSOP main event buy-in, will be there to defend his title.

A number of sports celebrities have also confirmed their participation, such as ESPN commentator Lon McEachern and NFL quarterback Shaun King, as well as a number of professional snowboarders and motocross riders. And Las Vegas’ own resident comedian, Carrot Top, has sent in his RSVP to join the crowd.

Harman noted, “Last year, we raised $130,000, allowing the Nevada SPCA to expand their facility. The Venetian Poker Room is a perfect venue, and their professional staff has been very gracious. This year’s event promises to be bigger and better and many of my friends will be there to support this great cause.”

All proceeds from the tournament and auctions will be donated directly to the NSPCA, a no-kill animal shelter that fights to save animals from euthanasia by housing and protecting them in an open, cage-free environment until they are able to find homes.

Seating for the tournament is limited. To register for the poker tournament, find more information about the NSPCA, or donate online, visit
