Charity Report: Full Tilt Tournament for Children’s Tumor Foundation

A charity tournament has been schedule to take place on April 23rd to benefit the Children’s Tumor Foundation. Full Tilt Poker will host the tournament at 8pm EST, and several notable professional poker players have committed to play.

The no-limit hold’em tournament will have a $5 buy-in with an additional $5 fee, the latter of which will be donated to the charity. The buy-in will go toward creating the prize pool for the tournament, and numerous prizes have been donated to be given to the top finishers, including 18 autographed copies of a poker book and several copies of Rounders DVDs. The tournament name is “Children’s Tumor Foundation,” its number is 44269053, and the pass word to gain access is “charity.”

Already registered to play are Phil Gordon, Lynette Chan, Karina Jett, Mike Swick, Adam Schoenfeld, and Chris Klecz. And other pros who are committed to play if their schedules permit are Andy Bloch, Kristy Gazes, Paul Wolfe, and Michael Craig. More names may be added to the roster as the date approaches.

There are 900 seats available in the tournament, and pre-registration is a solid way to guarantee a spot in the event and contribute to a worthy cause.

The organizer of the tournament is Chane, whose nephews – 4-year old Braeden and 2-year old Bronson – have neurofibromatosis (NF) type 1 and have developed brain tumors as a result. The older brother has completed 60 weeks of chemotherapy treatments, and the younger child began treatment in February. In addition to coordinating this tournament to benefit the Children’s Tumor Foundation, Team Steiner will be running a 10k race on May 3 at the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati, Ohio to raise additional money.

The Children’s Tumor Foundation funds research for NF, a disease that encompasses a set of distinct genetic disorders that cause tumors to grow along various nerves, and can affect bones and skin as well. Research may benefit an additional 100 million Americans, including those with cancer and learning disabilities, all of which could be assisted by an NF cure.
