On April 11, 2008, PokerStars announced that new members had joined its ever-growing roster of all-star players who make up Team PokerStars. Gavin Griffin and Chad Brown gladly accepted the offer and will play on the site as “GavinGriffin” and “ChadBrownPro” respectively.
The announcement came from PokerStars just as everyone was arriving in Monte Carlo to play in the European Poker Tour (EPT) Grand Final. Griffin and Brown will play as members of Team PokerStars in the tournament that was won by Griffin last year.
Griffin has a short yet very impressive history with poker, which he began by winning a World Series of Poker bracelet in 2004 when he was 22-years old, setting a record by being the youngest to win at the time. In 2007, he won the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo, and later that year, he won his first World Poker Tour title. He became the first player to ever win the “Triple Crown” of poker by claiming all three titles. And he is only 26.
Of his signing with PokerStars, Griffin noted, “This is the team I want to play with. I am so proud to be a part of this line up.”
Brown first cashed in the WSOP in 1993 and has been accumulating tournament cashes ever since, including an online win in the $5200 HORSE event during the 2006 WCOOP series on PokerStars. His signing with PokerStars marks another partnership with fiancée Vanessa Rousso, who is also part of the site’s team. He said, “I’m ecstatic to be a Team PokerStars pro. I am looking forward to winning a few bracelets and contributing to the team.”
