MTT Rewards on PokerStars

Man, can you believe it? That idiot called you down with second pair and hit his kicker on the river, crushing your Aces and sending you into a tilt spiral that doesn't end until you run around your neighborhood in your PokerStars boxers at 1 a.m.

You know you're better than these guys.

And PokerStars is giving you the chance to prove it (and win some cash that could buy more boxers or maybe bail you out of jail). PokerStars offers you the chance to earn points for finishing high in Multi-Table Tournaments after you outmaneuver the donks.

You can pick whether you're a casual player who wants to try it out for a week, a competitive player who believes you can beat down the donkeys for a whole month, or a serious player who wants to send the donkeys to the barn for the rest of the year.

Every time you finish in the top 15 percent of a regular MTT, you are awarded points based on the buy-in, number of entries and exactly where you finish.

PokerStars offers some great motivation to play even if you just want to try the Weekly Tournament Leader Board. The board takes your best 10 results from all the tournaments played between 12 a.m. Sunday and 11:59 p.m. Saturday and the person who finishes first on the leaderboard gets a special opportunity: the chance to play a Team PokerStars pro in a heads-up match the following Sunday.

The prize starts at $1,000, and $1,000 is added until the leaderboard winner beats the PokerStars pro. Just hope you don't play Fossilman as he was 5-1 at the end of March. At least you get to pick the game you play. I'd suggest Razz.

You can view this week's in-progress rankings and last week's completed rankings through the PokerStars software. From the main PokerStars lobby, select 'Requests' followed by 'Tournament Leader Board'. You will have the option to view 'This Week' or 'Previous Week.'

Sit 'N' Go tournaments with less than 40 players, satellite tournaments and heads-up tournaments do not count, and neither do play money tournaments.

The prizes get even juicer once you get to the monthly tournament boards. The boards take your best 20 results from all the tournaments played between 12 a.m. Eastern Time on the first day of the month and 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the last day of the month. The players who finish in the top 200 of the Monthly Leader Board will share $30,000 in cash prizes, with first place nabbing $5,000. The top 1,000 players get a ticket to a $20,000 monthly freeroll.

There's even still plenty of time to keep playing for the Yearly Leader Board, as that board only takes the top 100 finishes for the year. You can play that many in a week. Those prizes are worth playing for too, as the winner will receive a buy-in, hotel accommodations and spending money for five major PokerStars sponsored live tournaments. Players who finish second and third will win the same packages for three and two tournaments respectively.

Want to try it? Download PokerStars now and you'll get an exclusive PokerWorks bonus of $25 free in addition to a 100 percent matching bonus up to $50. You must enter the marketing code of POKERWORKS upon registration and the bonus code of FIRST2008 upon your first deposit.
