Doyle’s Room Signs Shannon Elizabeth

Film and television star Shannon Elizabeth has been no stranger to the poker world over the past few years, and Doyle’s Room has taken notice. The site has signed Shannon to join Team Brunson, just as the 2008 World Series of Poker is set to begin.

Poker media first began discussing Shannon’s love of poker in 2005 and 2006 when she played numerous charity poker tournaments. At that point in time, she admitted that her only goal was to raise money for her animal rescue, but the game began to intrigue her. Eventually, she became more entrenched in the poker community, getting lessons from pro players like Antonio Esfandiari and Phil Laak, and playing more events.

Shannon cashed three times at the 2006 WSOP and proved that she was more than a celebrity poker player. And in the spring of 2007, she shocked the poker world by making it to the semi-final round of the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship and finishing in third place for her biggest cash to date of $125,000.

While the actress by trade will always be known for her role in American Pie, along with many other television and film roles and her most recent reality show foray on Dancing With the Stars, poker is the game to which she consistently returns.

After several one-tournament or short-term sponsorship deals with sites like PokerStars, Full Tilt, and Mansion Poker, Shannon has landed at Doyle’s Room, where she will undoubtedly play on the site while playing numerous events at the 2008 World Series of Poker as a member of Team Brunson.
