Many people have always dreamed of making the trip to Las Vegas for the world’s most celebrated poker event - the WSOP - even if it’s only to play in one of the smaller tournaments. Unfortunately, not everybody has the money to book a flight to Sin City, pay for a hotel room, and put up the buy-in ranging from $1,500 to $10,000 to get into a WSOP tourney.
And if you’re one of those people who are in this category and won’t be making a trip to the Rio for the 2008 WSOP don’t worry because Bodog has you covered. This year Bodog Poker will be celebrating the World Series of Poker by holding its own Mini-SOP. For their Mini-Series of Poker, the site will mirror all 25 of the WSOP Hold’em events. But here’s the great thing about it: The buy-ins for these 25 Hold’em events will only cost 1% of what the real WSOP tournaments.
This means that if one wants to get into the Mini-SOP tourney mirroring WSOP Event #5 ($1,000 buy-in) they would only have to pay $10 + $1! Likewise, any person wishing to play Bodog’s version of the WSOP Main Event ($10,000 buy-in) would only have to pay $100 + 9. What’s more is that for only $821, a player could enter all 25 of the Mini-SOP events.
If you want to experience WSOP-type action from the comforts of your own domain, download Bodog Poker and signup using the bonus code “POKERWORKS” for the 110% deposit bonus. The Mini-SOP starts on May 30th and ends on July 3rd so time is of the essence.

Keeping with the Mini-SOP, the 25 Hold’em tournaments aren’t all Bodog is offering as they will also hold a special tourney on July 10th after the Mini-SOP is over with. In this event, three seats for the 2009 WSOP will be on the line. Those who place 1-3 will be the first online players to win seats to next year’s WSOP. The prize packages Bodog is giving out are worth $12,000 each which means one will have extra cash to spend after their tournament buy-in.
How do you do it? The way to gain entrance into the special tournament begins with Bodog’s Tournament Leader Board (TLB). The TLB will run throughout the Mini-SOP and the top four placers on this leaderboard will automatically qualify for the 27-player tournament that decides who goes to the 2009 WSOP.
Those placing 5-100 on the TLB will be placed in a Semifinal Qualifier taking place a couple days before the 27-person final. Eighteen people in the semifinals will gain entry into the final while the remaining 5 seats will be awarded through a random wild card drawing of all the people who entered at least 3 Mini-SOP tourneys.
Basically those who play most, if not all, of the 25 Hold’em tournaments will have the best shot at finishing high on the Tournament Leader Board. So if you want to get in on the action right from the start when the Mini-SOP begins on May 30th, signup at Bodog using the bonus code “POKERWORKS” for the 110% deposit bonus.
