Kristy, Tom, and Scott to Share Experiences

One of the great things about the World Series of Poker is the personal stories that emerge. While victories typically determine which stories get reported, it is important to take into consideration the ups and downs, which are sometimes extreme and unique, that players endure during the seven-week series.

Part of the WSOP Poker Personalities will feature a series that chronicles the lives of three players as they prepare for and persevere through the most-anticipated series of tournaments of the year. These players – all experienced, successful poker professionals – will be tracked and their progress through the 2008 WSOP will add an essential element to the game of tournament poker. Kristy Gazes, Tom Schneider, and Scott Clements will undoubtedly all have distinctive perspectives and personal stories to share and their words will be incorporated into weekly updates.

Kristy Gazes is a Los Angeles native with decades of poker experience under her belt. After years of playing mixed cash games in L.A. card rooms, she took her skills to the poker tournament circuit – live and online – and excelled there as well. Her list of accomplishments is long and includes a 2003 World Championship of Online Poker victory in Omaha hi-lo split, a 2005 Full Tilt Championship win, and the 2007 World Poker Tour Ladies Night title. With numerous final tables online and live, from Australia to London, this consummate pro is seeking her first WSOP bracelet.

Tom Schneider is a familiar name; he was the 2007 World Series of Poker Player of the Year. Though much of his prior experience in poker was in high-limit cash games, his live tournament successes date back to 2002 with his first WSOP final table. He is another player whose poker skills are diverse and sharp, as his many years at the high end of the corporate world provided lessons that he brings to the tables. His breakout year came in 2007 with the winning of two WSOP bracelets, along with a fourth place finish in another event, and the subsequent win of POY award. He looks to do well again in 2008.

Scott Clements has taken the poker world by storm in less than three years. His intensity at the tables has gained attention from players and media alike, and his poker resume shows what a passion for the game can accomplish. He won his first WSOP bracelet in 2006 in Omaha hi-lo and his second in 2007 in pot-limit Omaha, and there are also two World Poker Tour titles thrown in for good measure. The health-conscious pro would like to win his third annual bracelet.

The three players chosen for this series of articles are quite different in their attitudes, demeanors, and life choices, which should make for an interesting contrast in the weekly updates of each person. And readers will get a glimpse into the ups and downs, and triumphs and disappointments that come with tournament poker life, as well as the social, personal, and financial aspects of the seven weeks of the World Series of Poker.
