Everest Poker is the online poker site on everyone’s mind these days. Not only do they offer phenomenal promotions and benefits to their players, but they are ever present at the 2008 World Series of Poker. As previously reported, Everest Poker signed an agreement with Harrah’s Entertainment earlier this year to secure the rights to brand placement on the felt of all WSOP tables and along the inner ring of all ESPN final tables.

The site also just ran one of its biggest promotions to date – the Everest Poker Avalanche tournament with a $1 million prize pool that took place on a luxurious cruise ship. Ten finalists were determined in May, and those ten were sent on an all-expenses-paid cruise on the Royal Caribbean ship “The Navigator of the Seas.”

The cruise took place at the end of May, 2008, and while at sea, the 10 Everest Poker qualifiers played quite a bit of poker but were there primarily for the Avalanche Poker Championship, which took place on the first day of the Mediterranean Sea excursion. The 10 players brought a range of age, experience, and culture to the table and could be pegged as one of the most diverse final tables in the game. In the end, it was a young Spaniard, Ismael Arribas Munoz (screen name “Ismaelpsx”), a 26-year old from Madrid who took down the whopping $200,000 first prize.

The final results of the 2008 Avalanche were:

1st Ismael Arribas Munoz, 26, Spain $200,000
2nd Wing Kwok Tang, 25, Netherlands $120,000
3rd Brice Cousin, 25, France $90,000
4th Monika Kees, 55, Germany $70,000
5th Jelmer Attema, 21, Netherlands $45,000
6th Andreas Robert Peschel, 38, Germany $35,000
7th Mieczyslaw Basara, 53, Germany $25,000
8th Andreas Hoffman, 41, Germany $17,000
9th Fabien Cauvet, 31, France $12,500
10th Stefan Anders Hagg, 44, Sweden $10,000

While the Avalanche promotion has run its course in 2008 and will likely return in 2009, the biggest news on Everest Poker these days is that seats are still available for the 2008 World Series of Poker. Through numerous qualifying tournaments and satellites, there are only a few weeks left to win seats into the biggest live poker tournament of the year – the WSOP in Las Vegas.
