There was almost no doubt that Everest Poker was going to have a successful 2008 World Series of Poker. On the heels of a multi-year agreement with Harrah’s Entertainment for branding rights, the site and its representatives came to Las Vegas to make a splash.

And they did. Not only did the popular European online poker site secure a deal for satellite tournament rights, but the agreement included the Everest Poker name being placed on all WSOP table felts and the inside ring of the ESPN final table. The site secured a luxurious lounge for 1000 players and over 80 journalists at the Rio, and a party was given in their honor at PURE, one of the hottest nightclubs in Vegas.

The most exciting part of the World Series for Everest had to be the number of players the site sent to the biggest tournament series in the world. A total of 130 players flew to Sin City to represent the site in the $10K main event and 28 other bracelet events, which set a record for the online site in its first year of sponsorship.

Four of those 130 Everest players made the money. Voitto Rintalla, a Finnish rock star and member of Team Everest, made the final table of Event 39, the $1500 NLHE tournament. Daan Slutter from Holland cashed twice, once being in the main event. Wooka Kim from Japan, another member of Team Everest, also made the money in the main event, and Sylvain Coeur finished in 140th place in the main event out of the 6,844 players.

Jennifer Joyce, Chief Marketing Officer for Everest Poker, noted, “Being sponsor of the WSOP further underlines Everest Poker’s weight as a key influencer of the poker industry. By making poker accessible to amateurs and experienced players from across the globe, we are changing the face of the poker industry.”

Everest is now looking forward to the WSOP main event final table that will be played out in November and broadcast on ESPN, eventually reaching a global audience of 370 million households with the Everest logo featured on that exact final table. It will be the first time a sponsor’s logo has appeared on every featured table on the WSOP broadcasts.
