Full Tilt Fever: FTOPS IX Awards Nearly $17.5 Million

The Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) began in August of 2006 with eight tournaments and just over $1 million in the combined prize pool. Two years later, FTOPS IX boasted of 25 events and a cumulative prize pool of nearly $17.5 million. The ever-increasing popularity garnered by FTOPS has been an amazing success story, and it only seems to accompany the growing number of players who know that Full Tilt is a trustworthy site and a favorite place to play online poker.

FTOPS IX is now a wrap, and the numbers were phenomenal. A total of 46,855 players competed in the 25 events, and all of the prize pools added together came to $17,446,400. Each winner took home substantial cash winnings, along with a gold FTOPS jersey and a gold jersey avatar to be used on Full Tilt Poker.

Event #25 of the most recent FTOPS was a two-day event that began with 4,880 players buying in for $500 each and a guaranteed prize pool of $2.5 million. Chris Ferguson was the Team Full Tilt member hosting the event, but the longest lasting Full Tilt pro was, ironically, the newest member of the team, Kelly Kim, one of the final table players of the 2008 World Series of Poker. Kim finished in 16th place for a $12,375 prize. The end of the tournament saw a heads-up match between valleyho and dubbeemin, and dubbeemin eventually claimed victory and the $432,400 first place money.

Not only did FTOPS IX see the biggest online tournament collective payout in FTOPS history, but another type of history was made when one player, Yuval Bronshtein playing as yuvee04, won two consecutive events during the series.

Now that FTOPS IX has come to an end, it won’t be long before the tenth installment of the popular series is announced. What does that mean for you? It’s time to log on to Full Tilt and start honing those poker skills!

Full Tilt offers a wide range of cash games, tournaments, and even play-money games for just that purpose. Players can choose from a number of poker variations and limits to improve their skills at their games of choice. There is a reason that tens of thousands of players are on the site at any given time of the day or night. Besides the tips from the pros and the 24-hour games and tournaments, players know they can trust Full Tilt as a safe and secure online poker home.
