In May of 2008, Full Tilt Poker embarked on an experiment to host the first online high-stakes heads-up tournament. And with all 64 seats filled up quickly, the $25K Heads-Up World Championship went on to be a huge success. Names like David Singer, Andy Bloch, and Patrik Antonius made it to the quarterfinals, and seasoned pro Singer eventually took down the $560,000 first prize. Much to the delight of players, another Full Tilt Championship has been announced.

On Saturday, September 6th, a $25,000 Heads-Up Pot-Limit Omaha World Championship will begin on Full Tilt Poker, and the final two rounds of play will determine a winner the following day. PLO has quickly become one of the most popular poker variations played live and on the internet, and this event will be the highest buy-in heads-up PLO tournament ever played. Notable players will likely line up to play in the prestigious tournament, and members of Team Full Tilt like Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen, and Patrik Antonius are expected to register.

The already-anticipated heads-up PLO tournament will not be restricted only to those able to buy in for the $25,000 price. As Full Tilt is known to do, the site will be offering satellites so that you can play with the pros in this history-making tournament. For as little as $1 or 50 Full Tilt Points, anyone can work their way up through the qualifiers to obtain entry. They will lead up to the qualified entry seats or direct buy-in satellites for $500 + $35 running from August 30 through September 5. Winners from those six tournaments will play in the $25K PLO Heads-Up World Championship that following weekend.

If the May Heads-Up World Championship was any indication, players will be scrambling to play in the many satellites, and whether they win seats or not will be railing the best PLO players in the world during the September weekend tournament. And as the games roll on, make sure to check the winner brackets and video highlights.

For now, it is time to sign up for that account on Full Tilt and begin playing satellites. If not quite ready for PLO heads-up in such a major arena, PLO games are available at all stakes in cash game and tournament form to improve your skills in the game that is very consistently increasing in popularity.
