It is that time of year again when the Trent Tucker charity events are in full swing. The 2008 Trent Tucker Celebrity Golf and Poker Tournament is the tenth annual series of events that are scheduled to take place from September 11th through 13th, this year in Minnesota – the Minneapolis area to be specific. And the celebrities are already registered and ready to participate in order to help benefit the Trent Tucker Youth Program.

The three days of festivities kick off with a poker tournament on Thursday, September 11th at the Running Aces Harness Park in Columbus, Minnesota. Scheduled to attend are former NBA stars Michael Jordan and Charles Oakley, along with other pro sports celebrities like Darren Sharper, Flip Saunders, Ron Harper, Brad Sellars, and Kenny Lofton. And poker celebrities Marcel Luske and Michelle Lau will be in attendance as well. To play in the poker tournament, the buy-in is $1,250 to compete for prizes, cash, and the benefit of a good cause. In addition, the public is welcome to enjoy the festivities without playing in the tournament for a $50 donation to the charity.

Trent Tucker said of the event: “We’re very pleased Running Aces Harness Park is committed to helping improve the lives of our youth. The card room at Running Aces is second to none. It will be a wonderful venue for what promises to be another successful poker tournament.”

Other events include a celebrity VIP reception and party, the latter of which is open to the public, on Friday, September 12th, and a golf tournament at the Rush Creek Golf Club in Maple Grove on Saturday, September 13th. All registration information can be found on the charity’s website or by contacting Kathy@trenttucker.org.

Proceeds from the three-day event will go to the Trent Tucker Youth Program. Established in 2003, the non-profit organization empowers youth in the Twin Cities area, specifically inner city middle school students, by helping them to develop skills they need to make positive choices. The goals of the program include improving character and leadership skills, providing career and educational development opportunities, and offering positive methods of risk-taking to improve the understanding of the students themselves and others. Former NBA player Trent Tucker started the group as a way to give back to his community and make it better for children and families.
