The PokerNews Cup is back where it all started in October of 2007. Only one year ago at the luxurious Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia, a series of six events took place with over 1,500 players from 22 different countries around the world. Six months later, the PokerNews Cup traveled to the beautiful city of Salzburg in Austria, and the prestigious series has come full circle with its current series in Melbourne.

The PokerNews Cup Australia will take the Crown Casino by storm again on October 12th, 2008, with its much-anticipated follow-up to the inaugural series. A total of eight events are on the nine-day schedule with some exciting tournaments:

October 12:    $230 NLHE ($75K Guaranteed)
October 12:    $115 PokerPro NLHE Deep Stack
October 13:    $240 PLO with $100 Rebuys
October 14:    $550 H.O.R.S.E. (2-Day Event)
October 15:    $550 Tony G Celebrity Shootout with Bounties
October 16:    $550 NLHE Six-Handed
October 17:    $2200 NLHE Main Event (4-Day Event)
October 19:    $550 NLHE Teams Event

Many players who will be at the tables for one or more of these events won their seats and amazing prize packages through freerolls provided through PokerWorks exclusive partnership with PokerNews. They will soon sit alongside some of the greatest players in the poker world to compete for pieces of prize pools that consist of life-changing money. At the 2007 PokerNews Cup Australia Main Event, local player Dory Zayneh won the prestigious title and $300,000 first prize, and many others took home portions of the $1.5 million available along with those once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

One such experience during the 2008 PokerNews Cup Australia will be the official Player Party. It is scheduled for Sunday, October 19th at the Tangerine Bar & Lounge with food, drink, and music provided. All those who won prize packages through PokerWorks and are now officially Team PokerNews members are invited to the party to enjoy an evening with Team Captain Tony G and other invited poker personalities and celebrities.

Don’t miss the lucrative tournaments and excitement of the PokerNews Cup Australia at the Crown Casino, as it promises top-notch poker, prize money, and the launch of what promises to be a fantastic PokerNews Cup year.
