On the heels of the resounding success of the Latin American Poker Tour’s first season,
PokerStars, the world’s largest online poker room with over 15 million players worldwide, and the LAPT have announced the launch of Season 2. The LAPT will return to San Jose, Costa Rica, the scene of one of those successful Season 1 stops, on November 3rd to kick it off.
The first tournament of the second season of the LAPT will be a three-day event held at the Ramada Plaza’s Herradura Conference Centre in San Jose. With a buy-in of $3,700 and a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million, organizers hope to top the 398-player field from the prior event. Many of PokerStars’ biggest names will be in attendance, as will the numerous players who have qualified to win seats via PokerStars online satellites.
While the entire Season 2 schedule has not yet been announced, some facts have been released. Each event will have an increased buy-in from last year; most events will require a $3,500 + $200 buy-in, and the LAPT Championship will be a $5,000 + $200 tournament. In addition, the second season will boast of three additional stops on the tour, making for a total of six, the countries scheduled to be visited are Costa Rica, Mexico, Chile, Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina.
LAPT President Glenn Cademartori said, “PokerStars LAPT Season One was defined by ground-breaking debut success. Season Two will be defined by growth and expansion as we fully spread the tour across Latin America. We were so overwhelmed with the success of LAPT Season 1, that we wanted to come back with Season 2 straight away, moving it into the high-season for Latin American tourism. It will be the best time for Latin Americans, as well as North Americans, Europeans and players from across the globe to travel to these exotic destinations for live high-stakes championship poker.”
No site has proved better in sponsoring poker tours. The PokerStars European Poker Tour has grown into one of the most popular tournaments in the entire world, adding tour stops and capping events because player turnout is too much for most casinos to handle. The APPT is also drawing impressive numbers in its Asian tour stops and the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure is one of the most popular poker destinations throughout the year, so it’s no surprise that the LAPT has seen so much success and projects even more in its second season.
It is not too late for players to get in on the LAPT action on PokerStars, as satellites are currently running daily for the Season 2 kick-off in San Jose. Those winning seats via PokerStars qualifiers will each be awarded a prize package that not only includes the main event buy-in, but four nights’ hotel accommodation and spending money as well. Spending autumn in one of the most sought-after vacation destinations in the world? That is certainly worth a try while enjoying a little online poker in the process.

downloading PokerStars now, you might be on your way to Costa Rica next month. And when further LAPT Season 2 stops are announced, you’ll be ready to enter those qualifiers as soon as they become available.
In the meantime, with over 100,000 tournaments running every single day, there is plenty of money to be won and poker to be played whenever the desire strikes. Hundreds of thousands log on to play at all times of the day, even setting a record (entered in the Guinness Book of World Records) as the first poker website to have 160,000 players on the site at once. No one, according to the record books, can compete with PokerStars.
