The first one of these wagers involves the question of which nationality will win the Main Event final table. We won’t officially know the answer to this interesting bet until the action concludes on November 10th but we do know what the Bodog bookmakers’ prediction is. With five different American players taking the final table on November 9th – and one of them being chip leader Dennis Philips – Bodog has predicted that a United States player will win the tournament at 5/7 odds.
The chances of a Canadian player winning aren’t too bad either since longtime pro Scott Montgomery and Darus Suharto are representing the nation. Bodog’s odds of one of these two taking the title stand at 2/1. The only other nations represented are Russia (Ivan Demidov) with 7/2 odds and Denmark (Peter Eastgate) with 9/2 odds. Here’s an overview of the prop bet odds for which nation will win the Main Event title:
United States - 5/7 Canada - 2/1 Russia - 7/2 Denmark - 9/2
The second 2008 WSOP prop bet gets a little more negative as it hinges on who will hit the rail first among the nine players that are left. Kelly Kim is by far the shortest stack and is the odds on favorite to bust out first at 5/2 odds while David "Chino" Rheem trails him by a slim margin at 7/2 odds. Chip leader Dennis Philips is the least likely to bust out first at 13/1 odds. Here’s an overall look at the odds for who has the best chance of busting out at the final table first:
Kelly Kim - 5/2 Chino Rheem - 7/2 Craig Marquis - 4/1 Darus Suharto - 5/1 Ylon Schwartz - 5/1 Peter Eastgate - 13/2 Scott Montgomery - 13/2 Ivan Demidov - 10/1 Dennis Phillips - 13/1
