For the second year running, Sunflower Children will be hosting its Texas Hold’em Charity Benefit on November 21st, 2008 in New York City. All of the funds raised for the event will go directly to benefit the Sunflower Children nonprofit organization for at-risk children worldwide.
Supermodel and founder of Sunflower Children, Helena Houdova, will co-host the fundraiser with Roberta Armani and Russell Simmons at Gotham Hall in New York City. Also scheduled to join in the festivities are Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Phelps , model Lane Carlson, actors Michael Kelly, Ben Bailey, Ana Ortiz, Mark Indelico, Malinda Williams, and David Zayas. Poker pro and 2007 WSOP final tablist Lee Childs will be participating, and 2006 WSOP champion Jamie Gold will serve as the tournament’s emcee.
Houdova noted, “Fun in the name of compassion is what this event is all about. I am grateful to have volunteers around the world and friends in influential positions who are as passionate as I am about empowering our disadvantaged children.”
Sunflower Children is a Czech Republic-based non-profit organization founded in 2000 and established in 2004 to provide survival and developmental care for children of the world. Sunflower Children sponsors medical, nutritional, psychological, and educational programs for children around the world who are orphaned, disabled, abandoned, impoverished, or victims of refugee situations. Already having sponsored 22 projects in 16 countries, the organization uses 100% of all public donations for its charitable works.
