The “Shark” James Woods Appearing Now on Hollywood Poker

The legions of fans of James Woods are lamenting the demise of his latest TV series “Shark” which was broadcast on CBS. Cancelled after only two seasons, the show showcased James Woods as Sebastian “Shark” Stark, an arrogant and cutthroat prosecutor. But don’t despair, because even though you can’t tune in on Tuesday nights anymore to catch James Woods on TV, you can catch him online – at Hollywood Poker.

A veteran of over 70 major motion pictures, television films and mini-series, James Woods is a star recognized the world over. His stellar performances have also earned him three Emmys, including two Best Actor in A Motion Picture awards for "Promise" and "My Name Is Bill W."  The two Oscar nominations he received were for his riveting performances in "Salvador" and for Best Actor in A Supporting Role for the "Ghosts of Mississippi." Other awards bestowed upon the talented actor are; the Golden Globe Award, the Obie Award, Clarence Derwent Award and Theatre World Award on the New York stage. James has been nominated for the Golden Globe ten times and for the CableAce Award. He also took home the American TV Critics Award and the Golden Satellite Award twice.

If you have followed James’ career, you will remember the powerful portrayal of evil he displayed in the amazing film "The Onion Field."  His outstanding body of big screen work includes; Against All Odds, Videodrome, Once Upon A Time In America, End Game, True Believer, Casino, The Generals Daughter and John Q.  For the small screen, he gave an outstanding performance when played former NY mayor Rudy Giuliani, for the TV movie; Rudy: The Rudy Giuliani Story in 2003. From 2006-2008 James starred in the CBS drama “Shark” where he played a high profile Los Angeles defense lawyer who became an aggressive and successful prosecutor after tiring of defending criminals. Not only is James Woods highly respected by those who matter most in the entertainment industry, his peers, but he has garnered high praise for his turns as a Director, Writer, and Producer as well.

And in case you think James is nothing but an actor, consider that he reportedly has an I.Q. of 180 or 184 (Stanford-Binet) and is a member of Mensa. Plus, he attended MIT where he majored in political science and scored 1580 on his SAT, including a perfect score of 800 on the verbal section of the test.  Following in the footsteps of other poker pros, James has applied his high IQ and MIT training to hone his poker game, believing that the game is simply math based. Due to this belief, James doesn’t believe there is such a thing as bad luck – only bad play. His philosophy is that when you are running bad, tighten up; then tighten up even more.

Since his first tournament win of $3,210 in the Sunday No Limit Hold'em at the Commerce Casino in 2004, James has cashed 14 times. His biggest tournament win has been at the LA Poker Classic WPT Season 4 No Limit Hold'em Championship, where in 2006 he placed 24th and won $39,859. When James isn’t playing in live poker events, he can be found exclusively on Hollywood Poker. And if you think he never shows up and plays with anyone who sits at his table, just ask the players on Hollywood Poker.

Hollywood poker player “actyper” related that he was fortunate to be sitting at the same table as James Woods who he found to be, “an awesome guy, friendly, and he chatted with all players.”

And from player Rayjack; “First I want to congratulate all the people behind the Hollywood Poker Green Room - it was a pleasure to play with all the stars. I was amazed that James Woods was answering to almost everyone on line.”

Another comment, this time from player CrowTech; “Well, the very first time I ever played on this site I actually got lucky enough to play with James Woods and Scott Baio. Now, Scott didn't say much - but, James...he was even helping me out a bit because I was going on about being such a new poker player (so true). It was just fantastic, I couldn't believe it actually - one of my first online poker games and I get to sit in with James Woods and get tips from the guy. Seriously, it doesn't get better than that for me. Best money I've EVER lost, ever!”
