The third annual Everest Poker European Cup (EPEC) has already begun, and it is the talk of the online poker community in Europe. The competition is the largest freeroll competition on the continent, open only to newly registered Everest Poker players, and it combines live qualifiers and online tournaments in a unique and popular format.

The way it works is that 27 live events are held across Europe, in 11 countries, through February of 2009. Once the live tournaments conclude, there will be additional qualifiers held online at Everest Poker from February to April to allow more players to qualify for the main event - a live three-day tournament in May with a prize pool that should exceed €100,000. The location of the main event will remain undisclosed until the time approaches, though organizers are said to be looking at one of “Southern Europe’s most beautiful destinations.”

All in all, there will be more than 200 new players qualified - at no registration or participation cost whatsoever - for the live finale, and each of them will receive a prize package valued at €1,100, which includes the €500 Everest Poker European Cup Finale buy-in, hotel accommodations for three nights, and spending money for travel and incidentals.

Some of the dates for qualifying live events have already passed, but others are still upcoming as follows:

Estavayer-le-lac, Switzerland    November 30
Vienna, Austria                December 5
Naples, Italy                December 9
Warsaw, Poland                December 13
France                    To be announced
Germany                    To be announced
Netherlands                To be announced
Portugal                    To be announced
Spain                        To be announced

How does one go about qualifying for the free events? Simply by downloading Everest Poker and becoming one of the site’s newest players. (Remember, only new players can qualify.) Once registered, the tournaments are listed in the “Special” section of “Scheduled Tournaments.” Registration is allowed online, and all pertinent information will be given upon completion of the form.

The caveat is that players must be a resident of the country in which the live tournament is taking place. Those countries without live qualifiers will provide online opportunities in the early months of 2009. In all, there are 29 countries that are eligible for participation.

A spokesperson for Everest Poker noted, “The Everest Poker European Cup has been running for three years and is one of Europe’s most popular promotions for European poker enthusiasts. Thousands of Europeans have enjoyed EverestPoker.com’s exclusive events, which allow players to try their hand at poker for free and experience the thrill of playing live during the final.”

New players should get registered now and begin the registration process so as not to miss out on this unique opportunity. And upon the download of Everest Poker, don’t forget to use the bonus code “PNEWS200” in order to qualify for a $200 bonus.
