The final week of 2008 is a wonderful thing at PokerStars.  The first BIG mentionable of the World Record Week is the tournament of tournaments, Guinness World Record Breaker attempt that will begin on December 28, 2008 at 15:30ET and as of this writing has 27899 players registered to play – there’s a $500K guaranteed prize pool to play for, along with being part of a record making event.

Look for special money-added tournaments and guarantees in some of the major Sunday Tournaments during the week, plus a special Reload Bonus.  The reload bonus will help you significantly boost a sagging bankroll.  From 12/24/08 at 14:00ET to 12/31/08 at 23:59ET, when you reload and use the bonus code PS25, you will receive a 25% reload bonus which is released at 20 VPPs per bonus dollar and you have six months to clear the bonus.

Another H-U-G-E EVENT taking place on Sunday, December 28th at 16:30 ET is the Sunday Million, only it’s guaranteed at $2.5 Million this Sunday.  You can buy in direct for $215 or look for Satellites and VIP Satellites in the $2.5 Million Lobby.  Just go to ‘Tourney-‘Regular’-‘Special’ to find everything needed to take a seat.

And you’ll find 10,000 player Sit N’ Go’s in progress – with a $1 buy-in – that have extra cash added to the prize pools running during the weekend of December 27-28, 2008.  Once there are 10,000 players, the tournament starts.  They are easily found by checking the PokerStars Lobby under ‘Sit & Go’-‘All’.

Tournaments aren’t the only way to win extra cash during World Record Week.  Milestone Hands occur every one millionth hand dealt from December 24th at 14:00ET until December 31st at 23:59ET and while the winner receives a cash prize, so does the rest of the table.  It plays out as follows:

The Rest
 Micro $250 $100
 Low $500 $200
 Medium $1,000 $400
 High $2,000 $800

If you are dealt into a Milestone hand, you will win an additional bonus according to your VIP level.

VIP Tier  Multiplier
SilverStar  15% Bonus
GoldStar  30% Bonus
PlatinumStar   60% Bonus
Supernova  120% Bonus

PokerStars has a band new online team competition coming next year.  You can watch the exhibition event that will decide the captain of the Team PokerStars Pro for the PokerStars All-Star Weekend.  The event is a Team PokerStars Pro Championship Match that begins Sunday December 28th at 13:00ET and the top three players’ prizes will be donated to charity on their behalf.  They will play an 8-game format and 1st receives $15K, 2nd receives $10K, and 3rd receives $5K.  The event is found in the PokerStars Lobby under ‘Tourney’-‘Special’ and if you miss it, it will be replayed a few days later with all the hole cards shown.  It’s a great learning tool on getting into the way a pro views the game as they are in the action.

If you don’t have a PokerStars account, you don’t have to be left out of all of the fun and record breaking, just download PokerStars and register.  This will entitle you to a 100 percent matching bonus up to $50.  Be sure to enter the marketing code POKERWORKS upon registration and the bonus code of FIRST2008 when you make your first deposit.

The rest is easy, there are games to be played and money to be won, get off the sidelines and be a record breaker.
