Partnership Between WSOP and Milwaukee’s Best Light to ContinueSince the 2009 World Series of Poker schedule was announced a month ago, more information was bound to begin coming to the fore about sponsorships and other news surrounding the details of the WSOP. Thus, the press release has been distributed announcing that Milwaukee’s Best Light will again be the official beer of the World Series in 2009 and 2010.

With All In Energy having already signed a deal to provide all of the water and energy drinks for the 2009 WSOP, the lacking beverage of choice was beer. But WSOP have confirmed that Milwaukee’s Best Light will continue the sponsorship of the Series that it began in 2006, signing up to be the official beer of the WSOP for 2009 and the following year.

Milwaukee’s Best Light again has the right to use the WSOP logo on its packaging and promotional materials, and there will likely be the signage and large inflated beer cans around the Rio in Las Vegas for the two-month duration of the WSOP summer, as players have come to expect.

Marketing director for MBL Chad Dern said, “Poker continues to enjoy growth both as a leisure activity and as a televised sporting event, so we want to make sure Milwaukee’s Best Light is the beer of choice whether fans are playing or watching at home. When we look at opportunities for developing alliances that make the most sense for this brand and help us connect with the right audience, the World Series of Poker is simply the best.”

While details of the two-year agreement have not been disclosed, organizers are undoubtedly satisfied to have this partnership solidified for two years, the most important at this time being the upcoming 2009 WSOP, which will celebrate the Series’ 40th anniversary.

WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack added, “We’re excited to have Milwaukee’s Best Light continuing on as the tournament’s official beer sponsor, and we look forward to building on this successful relationship as the tournament kicks off its 40th year.”
