Online poker websites have been known to sign celebrities and poker legends to their roster of players from time to time, but Full Tilt Poker may have topped them all with the recent signing of Oscar-nominated and widely-acclaimed actor Don Cheadle. He will be considered a “Friend of Full Tilt” going forward.
Cheadle has become more of a regular on the poker scene in recent years, as he joined Annie Duke in sponsoring the annual fundraising Ante Up for Africa poker tournaments during the World Series of Poker. But he also made a name for himself by competing quite seriously and with the respect of the poker community in the annual NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship for the last several years.
As a member of the Full Tilt Poker team, he will be playing regularly on the Full Tilt Poker website with his name appearing in red as a “Friend of Full Tilt” and sporting the company logo when he appears in poker tournaments such as the 2009 World Series of Poker. Other members of his pro category on Full Tilt include Ali Nejad, Jeremiah Smith, Bruce Buffer, Michael Craig, Jay Greenspan, Gabriela Hill, and Brian Koppelman. But as part of the entire Full Tilt team, he will share the same logo as some of the biggest names in poker like Chris Gerguson, Phil Gordon, Andy Bloch, Phil Ivey, John Juanda, Erick Lindgren, Erik Seidel, Jennifer Harman, Mike Matusow, Allen Cunningham, Gus Hansen, and Patrik Antonius.
Cheadle commented about the signing, “I’ve done alright in the televised tourneys I’ve participated in and I’ve won several tournaments around town. I have yet to play in the WSOP events, but I hope my schedule will permit me to do so in the future.”
