Full Tilt Fever: FTOPS XII in Full Swing, Gavin Smith is Early Winner

It is most definitely an online poker fan favorite. The Full Tilt Online Poker Series is currently running its twelfth installment, something for which players have been saving their online bankrolls since the last FTOPS in February. With more than $18 million in guarantees and a wide variety of games, FTOPS XII got underway on May 6 and will run until all 25 tournaments are over on May 17.

The first event kicked off the series with a $200 buy-in no-limit hold’em offering and a $1 million guarantee, which attracted 4,445 players to push the prize pool to $1,255,000. Ultimately, URBEHIND claimed victory there, along with a stellar $191,020 first prize, the biggest to be awarded in the first few days of tournaments.

Several well-known players have made final tables in the first eight events, including Alex “AJKHoosier1” Kamberis, Jon “Pearljammer” Turner, Steve “MrSmokey1” Billirakis, and Gavin Smith. And it was Smith who ultimately took down Event 7, the $100 NLHE tournament with rebuys. His ultimate win over second place finisher UW14 garnered him a $123,600 first place prize for the Full Tilt Pro player, and it was his first significant online poker tournament victory. As he wrote in the chat box after the win, “Wow, my firstever online tourney win! Kinda sweet!”

Other winners in the first eight events included masp797, nypitbull24, Leopard18, 67ofspades, michaelsc, and benba. All FTOPS XII winners receive special edition FTOPS gold jackets and gold avatars for use on Full Tilt Poker, in addition to the prize money.

A look at the FTOPS XII schedule showed tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $100 to $2,500, but in order to make the excitement available to all online players, the MiniFTOPS was running concurrently with the major events. Those events are of the same variety - matching the game lineup exactly - but offer buy-ins at 1/10th the cost.

Everyone can take advantage of the winning ways at Full Tilt this month, as satellites are running for all events around the clock. First, however, one will need an online account! Download Full Tilt Poker now to set it up, and use the special bonus code “POKERWORKS” to qualify for an extra 100% bonus on any deposit up to $600.

It is as simple as that. Once logged in, find the massive FTOPS section of the site and begin looking for the tournaments or satellites that match your bankroll. One of the great things about Full Tilt is that it truly has something for everyone, no matter your financial limitations or skill level. And everyone has the chance to play in a series like FTOPS with some of the greatest in the game - names like Ferguson, Lederer, and Harman.

The main event is May 17. Sign up so as not to miss this opportunity!
