Charity Report: Lederers Raise $179K For Boys and Girls Club With Annual WSOB

The annual World Series of Barbeque hosted by Howard and Suzie Lederer, with special assistance from Steve Zolotow, has become a must-attend event each summer. Though there are perks like the amazing food and drink spread, entertainment, and an extensive fireworks display, the one event that serves the purpose of the entire evening is a charity poker tournament. And the 2009 WSOB raised $179,000 for the Boys and Girls Club. The Suzie and Howard Lederer Celebrity Charity Poker Tournament began in the late afternoon hours of July 1 with a $330 buy-in and $200 unlimited rebuys. Main Event, Day 2A – Moving Day

After the drama of the sell out/shut out from yesterday, it was good to get back to some poker and the real reason we're all here... to find out who is going to be the winner of a boat load of money and the most prestigious bracelet at the World Series of Poker. This afternoon I spent the majority of time watching hands unfold... the reactions of the players as they won or lost... and just seeing how people were playing. I saw a mix of good and bad play, lucky and unlucky flops, turns, and rivers. Read more

Poker Pundit - Jeremy “Chipsteela” Menard - So Close, Yet so Far

Another FTOPS has come and gone, and yet again I’m left wondering what might have been. I did manage to cash in several events, but we all know that the big money in tournaments is at the final table and more specifically the top 3, not 50th. I actually finished right around 50th in 4 events, but the one that hurt the most was in the second to last FTOPS event. This event was the $129 buy-in Knockout tournament, where you received $20 for each player that you bust. Due to the smaller buy-in the field of players in this tournament was much weaker than many of the other FTOPS events. Read more

Main Event, Day 2B – Packed House

It's about thirty minutes prior to the start of Day 2B at the World Series of Poker Main Event and the floor is frantically looking for three misplaced bags containing chips for players. They yell for the dealers to look for bags with certain players names on it. They repeat this every couple of minutes. I'm guessing they eventually found them but it got me to wondering, what would they do if they lost a bag.I talked to Steve, my friendly floor man, and after giving me a long spiel that, “We would NEVER lose a bag.
