Poker television shows have been attempted on numerous occasions and channels, and while some have succeeded and continue to air, others have fallen by the wayside. G4TV is planning to broadcast one of its own, with a different twist. The reality show entitled “2 Months, $2 Million” will focus on young online pros whose goal is to earn $2 million in the course of two months in Las Vegas. The success of the show may depend on its viewership, which can start being calculated with its premiere on August 16.

While seasoned poker pros get much press in the poker media, it has been the young online pros who have come into the spotlight in the past few years. Not only are they fearless on the felt, but they have a certain entrepreneurial spirit off the felt. That is what brought Brian Roberts, Emil Patel, Jay Rosencrantz, and Dani Stern to pitch a reality show to G4TV, part of Comcast Entertainment Group, about their quest for millions of dollars through high stakes online poker.

The show will feature the four young pros moving to Las Vegas during the summer of 2009, during the months of the World Series of Poker, to attempt the poker lifestyles with that $2 million goal in mind. As the promo states, “But with high stkes often comes devastating losses, and despite their expertise, they experience many ups and downs as they work towards their nearly impossible goal.” The ten episodes on G4TV will allow the audience to follow the four men in their young 20’s as they make a Vegas mansion their home and gamble their way through the poker world and prop bet through life.

Though poker is the focus of the show, the four will also explore the Vegas nightlife and balance their poker winnings with expenses in a town that encourages spending at every corner. There are also penalty stunts involved each week that require the player who loses the most money each week to do embarrassing things, such as wear a ballet tutu to a hotel buffet. The show will demonstrate the extreme kind of lifestyle maintained by some of today’s young and sometimes successful online poker pros.

The debut of the show will be on Sunday, August 16 at 9:00pm ET/PT on G4TV, and will feature appearances by players like Tom Dwan, Erica Schoenberg, and David Benyamine. Produced by Park Slop Productions, “2 Months, $2 Million” will be the first poker-related show on G4TV.
