I feel that one of the most common misconceptions about poker is that many new fans to the game believe that all the star poker players made all of their millions of dollars from poker alone. They like to believe the fairy tale story of a man or woman walking into a casino with mere dollars to his name, winning a fortune that night, and never looking back. While it’s true that it has happened, its fair share of times, more often than not, it’s not the case.

Brick and mortar casino poker players have known for a long time that their time and efforts spent at the poker table create monetary value for the hosting casino. The poker room may not glean a big profit from the players but the combination of poker and availability of the Sportsbook, slots, and the pit, make a big part of the casinos nut every month.

The third season of the PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour was finally set to wrap with its grand finale of the tour in Sydney, Australia. Beginning on December 1, players gathered at the Star City Casino for three starting days of the poker extravaganza that would lead to a new grand champion of the APPT.Day 1A brought 81 players to the tables for the first flight of the tournament, and Joe Hachem did the honors of starting play with the “shuffle up and deal” command.
