New Orleans is certainly the place to be next weekend!  This is especially true for football fans who are poker players.  The fourth annual Bayou Poker Classic is currently taking place at Harrah’s New Orleans, located near the famous French Quarter and within walking distance of the Louisiana Superdome.  There are 22 poker tournaments on this year’s schedule, with total prize money expected to exceed more than $1 million.  The poker action runs from now through December 20th.

Tens of thousands of football fans are also coming into town for a huge holiday weekend.  On Saturday night (Dec. 19), The undefeated NFL’s New Orleans Saints will take on the Dallas Cowboys at the Superdome.  The following evening (Dec. 20), the New Orleans Bowl takes place between Southern Mississippi and Middle-Tennessee State University.  This is the kickoff game to college football’s bowl season.

Meanwhile at Harrah’s New Orleans, the Bayou Poker Classic continues.  While in town, football fans will have several poker tournaments from which to chose, including multiple No-Limit Hold’em tournaments running all week.  In addition to the Bayou Poker Challenge championship event, three other open tournaments are offered, as well as special tournaments designed for ladies and seniors.  The lineup of events next weekend for the “Poker and Pigskin Showdown” is as follows:

Thursday, Dec. 17 at 9 pm        No-Limit Hold’em            $200 buy-in
(One-Day Event)

Friday, Dec. 18 at 12 noon    No-Limit Hold’em Championship    $3,120 buy-in
(Three-Day Event)

Friday, Dec. 18 at 5 pm    No-Limit Hold’em            $550 buy-in

(Two-Day Event)

Sunday, Dec. 20 at 12 noon    Ladies-Only No-Limit Hold’em    $340 buy-in
(One-Day Event)

Sunday, Dec. 20 at 2 pm    Seniors (50+) No-Limit Hold’em    $340 buy-in
(One-Day Event)

In addition to poker tournaments, Harrah’s New Orleans also offers dozens of mega- and single-table satellites, as well as live poker action (cash games) held inside the 23-table poker room, operating 24 hours a day.

If poker and an action packed pigskin weekend are not reason enough to visit New Orleans, there’s always the famous French Quarter and surrounding area to entice visitors.  The Crescent City offers a wide variety of nightly entertainment and world class restaurants.  The holiday season is also a big part of New Orleans’ tradition.  Be sure and check out the Miracle on Fulton Street (Christmas) attraction, just steps away from the Harrah’s Hotel and Casino.

No doubt, December 17-20 promises to be one of the most exciting weekends of the year in New Orleans, especially for all poker players and football fans.  The poker tournament action takes place inside the Harrah’s New Orleans amphitheatre, which regularly hosts many of the most popular performers in music and entertainment.  But this coming weekend, the real stars at Harrah’s New Orleans are poker players along with their families and friends.
