A Short History of the Bayou Poker Challenge at Harrah’s New Orleans

This marks the fourth year of the Bayou Poker Challenge, which is held annually each December, at Harrah’s New Orleans. It is one of the South’s largest and most successful poker tournaments, and has awarded in excess of $8 million in prize money since its creation.The first major poker tournament held at Harrah’s New Orleans was called the “Cajun Poker Classic,” which took place in early 2004. The three-day tournament attracted 536 players and inspired the casino to host more poker events in the future. Read more

SUPER POKER SUNDAY 12/13: Big Night for Newhizzle on PokerStars

As the year was winding down and left only a few Sundays in the year, December 13th showed that the online poker community was starting to relax a bit for the holidays as well. The registration numbers in all of the major tournaments were down from the previous week, though Full Tilt Poker’s numbers were down more than others, most likely due to the MiniFTOPS events that garnered tens of thousands of players.But the winnings in the Sunday majors were still significant for those who played, and millions of dollars were awarded to the collective in-the-money contingent.
