The news surfaced on the evening of January 9 through Mark Seif, who told the poker world through his website that Amir Vahedi died the previous day. And the confirmation that it was true took the breath away from the poker industry, as Vahedi was long known as one of the friendliest and skilled players at the tables, always with a smile, joke, and signature cigar in his mouth. But at the young age of 48, Vahedi died from health complications related to a long battle with diabetes.
