With your help, there can be renewed hope among the destruction and devastation surrounding the people of Haiti. The damage to land and life, and the threat to the Haitian People’s very existence that was caused by the massive earthquake that recently took place in Haiti has brought millions together, all with the goal to find ways to offer help to sustain those suffering through this crisis.

Each day, the number of lives taken by this disastrous event continues to rise alarmingly, already having reached well into the thousands. In addition, there are millions of people who have lost their homes and have no place to seek shelter, get food, water, or any access to much needed proper medical care. The magnitude of loss that the people of Haiti are suffering remains almost impossible to comprehend. And the disaster continues to unfold in the wake of not only the devastating earthquake on January 12th, but in the aftermath which brought a 5.9 magnitude aftershock that took place on January 20th.

There is hope however, because when people band together, so much can be accomplished. That’s why PokerStars stepped up to the plate very quickly to answer the call for help, by providing an avenue for PokerStars players to donate cash to this most deserving cause. The people at PokerStars have learned from previous disasters that PokerStars players are among some of the most generous people to be found anywhere. That is why they are once again working to make it easy for this wonderful player community to offer aid to those in dire need – the people of Haiti.

To prove that they believe in the worthiness of this cause and want to do their share, PokerStars has pledged to match every single dollar donated by loyal PokerStars players. Every penny collected will be donated directly to the Red Cross to assist in that organization’s relief efforts of the heavily stricken Caribbean nation.

Since PokerStars launched the appeal, thousands of players from all around the globe have made donations, and as of January 19th more than $474,638 has been raised by those who play at the PokerStars tables. If you would like to be among those who have given so generously, you can do so easily through your PokerStars account up until January 31st.

To make your contribution, login to the PokerStars lobby, go to ‘Tourney’ then select ‘Special’ and enter one of the dummy 'Haiti Earthquake Relief' tournaments you will see listed there. The available 'Buy-ins' range from $1,000 all the way down to a single $1. Please note that you will not actually need to participate in a tournament, but your ‘entry fees’ will instead go directly to the Haiti Earthquake Relief fund. As an alternative, players may also choose to make a private player transfer for any amount they wish as donation to the account 'Haiti Fund.' To donate in this way, simply go to 'Requests' in the lobby top menu and then select 'Transfer Funds' and in the player ID box enter 'Haiti Fund.’

Your support of the Haiti relief efforts will be most sincerely appreciated by all of the people at PokerStars, as well as by the many thousands of people in Haiti affected by this catastrophic event. Remember, every penny raised by PokerStars players will be matched by PokerStars to assist in helping to meet the dire needs of the earthquake victims in Haiti. In this way when you contribute, you are really giving double whatever you can afford. The next time you book a win at the tables or in a tournament, don’t forget those in dire need – give generously, from your heart and your poker account!
