PokerStars and TSN Launch Poker Club in CanadaTSN is Canada’s leading sports news and information provider, and the announcement that they teamed up with PokerStars.net, the world’s leading online poker website, is a match made in the winner’s circle. The two major entities joined forces to bring more poker to sports fans in Canada, where the game is growing as fast as anywhere in the world.

The TSN Poker Club, located at poker.tsn.ca, is a custom-built online poker space that launched on February 3. Online freeroll tournaments will give players the chance to play poker for prizes, and the software is simple to download. Once an account is created, players can begin playing for free and even take advantage of a free poker school on the website.

Freerolls started on February 3 and run three times daily from Mondays through Saturdays until July 31st, and the top 54 players in each tournament will win seats to a weekly final. The finals will run each Sunday from February 7 to August 1 at 8pm ET, and each one of those tournaments will produce 99 winners who will take seats in the monthly finals. Prizes will then be given away to the winners of the monthly tournaments on March 1, April 5, May 3, May 31, July 5, and August 2.

PokerStars.net Canada Country Manager Geoff Fardy said, “Poker’s popularity in Canada continues to grow and the TSN Poker Club gives poker players of all levels a chance to get into the action and win exclusive prizes… Together we offer unprecedented access to the sport of poker on television and now online.”

TSN’s Vice President of Marketing, Shawn Redmond, added, “Poker on TSN has always attracted a loyal and dedicated audience of fans who love the thrill of high stakes competition. The TSN Poker Club gives our fans the opportunity to get in the game with PokerStars.net’s industry-leading software, the best game selection and access to exclusive tournaments and prizing.”

But no confirmation came, so it remained a rumor until now. It is official that the NAPT will be aired on ESPN2. Read more
