Online Poker Room Roundup: A Ticket Around The World

I know all the stuff going on with PokerStar's SCOOP series is pretty exciting, especially with the huge main event coming this Sunday, but wouldn't it be nice to leave the house once in a while?

Even better, I know the upcoming anticipation of the World Series of Poker has you pretty excited, especially with every online poker site right now trying to get you there, but wouldn't it be nice to leave the COUNTRY once in a while?

Sure it would, and PokerStars agrees and wants to help you get there.

PokerStars has about as many poker tours across the world as it does sponsored players (such as Daniel Negreanu, who seemingly appears on TV every 7.6 seconds), and many of them are either just starting or in full swing.

The Asia Poker Tour's fourth season begins in a week, with the Grand Casino Lisboa in Macau.

The Grand Final of the Latin America Poker Tour approaches later this year in Argentina, but the next event on the LAPT is in Peru between June 1-5.

There's also the United Kingdom and Ireland Poker Tour in Nottingham this Wednesday for the next leg of the tour's first season. And finally there's even a French Poker Tour that will have its next stop, but that's not until September.

So you've got time to satellite your way in to the French event. You might have missed your chance on a couple of these, but then again, there's still time to play your way into other events on those tours. You've still got time to travel the world, but perhaps the time to start is now.

So speaking of the WSOP - well, we were kinda talking about it - the CEREUS network of Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet just started a new promotion with a WSOP VIP Prize Package on the line.

Think of the craziest last longer bet with your buddy and get it on video, or your iPhone or whatever, and detail what the first to bust will have to do. Don't hold back. This can include streaking in your girlfriend's underwear, but that was already done with Joe Sebok, Gavin Smith and Jeff Madsen. This video better be creative. Then put it on YouTube and tag it UB or Absolute style and you're in the contest. The best video wins a seat to a $1,000 No-Limit Holdem event complete with goodies and hotel accommodations. There's even a party because this promotion rewards some wild and crazy guys (or gals).

If you really don't want to leave the country, or your house, Full Tilt Poker is offering its MiniFTOPS XVI this week. You can play the same events as FTOPS for one-tenth of the price. There's still $7 million on the line so it's not exactly like you're being relegated to the kiddie table during Thanksgiving dinner.

There's always satellites to these events, too, so you can play for even less than the tiny buy-ins by winning your way to the game.

When you play those tournaments, you could hit a hand that could eventually lead to big bucks. Or you could skip the uncertainty and play Party Poker's Million Dollar Hand Promotion.

Here's how it works. You'll receive a random playing card for every 15 points you pick up until May 23. Pick up a pair or better in a five-card hand for a guaranteed cash prize.

If you hit a royal flush, you'll win $1 million.

There's no limit to the money you can win, and your first card to the promotion is free. This is a pretty serious deal, as all you have to do is play, and even a measly pair of 2s is worth $3. Two pair is worth $10, trips are $20 and even a straight flush is $10,000.

You can play this promotion by downloading Party Poker right here on PokerWorks. You'll get a $25 bonus – INSTANTLY – for doing so, and if you clear a small amount of points, you'll get another $25.

In fact, PokerWorks offers easy access to all the poker sites listed in this article, and you're not limited to just those sites. With all the bad news about the feds attempting to crack down on online poker (which still does not make it illegal to play online, by the way), you might be glad to know there are poker sites out there sticking it out for U.S. players.

Those include Doyle's Room, Absolute, Full Tilt, PokerStars, UB, Cake Poker, Carbon Poker, Bodog Poker, Sportsbook, Hollywood Poker, Winner Poker and more. PokerWorks will be adding more as they become available.

So what are you waiting for?
