Online Poker Room Roundup: Tournaments Can Be Cool

PokerStars continues to offer stops on the North American Poker Tour to go along with its other sixty bazillion tournament tours.

This one's a stretch.

PokerStars will take you to Los Angeles for its newest stop from Nov. 12-17.

I know. Poker in California. Who'd thunk it?

This stop is at the Bicycle, which has hosted World Poker Tour events and has a rich history of top-ranked local players. You'll most likely see them as well as the top pros you've come to expect from this tour, including, of course, Daniel Negreanu, Vanessa Rousso, Barry Greenstein and Greg Raymer.

The five-day event features a $5,000 buy-in and exciting side events.

So why am I telling you this? Just to make you all jealous you're missing the World Series of Poker and now this? Nope. You can qualify on PokerStars yourself!  That's right.

You probably didn't see that coming, eh? OK. You probably did. You're catching on to me. Packages, as usual, include the Main Event buy-in, hotel accommodations and travel expenses.

PartyPoker has a cool promotion that's all in the cards. It's called the Card Rush XL, and all you have to do is collect 15 points, which you can do by playing cash games, not just those annoying tournaments.

If you do, you'll get one of 1.8 million prize cards, and each card gives you between one and five leader board points. You can earn up to 50 cards a day, and the more points you get, the higher you'll go up on the prize board. The top three win their choice of a $10,000 luxury travel package.

PartyPoker's also giving you your first card for 5 points. So sign up today through PokerWorks, which offers Party Poker and many other room listed here, and you'll also get a $25 bonus just for signing up.

PokerWorks and Play Aces is also offering one of those annoying tournaments, only this one is free. That's not annoying at all. All new players, even if you're not new to the game, are welcomed into a $500 freeroll just for making your first deposit.

The best part is Play Aces actually accepts U.S. Players. Yep, we Americans still matter at times.

Play Aces also has a full schedule of freeroll tournaments available throughout the day every day. Some of these tournaments feature prize pools of up to $50,000. Who needs the WSOP anyway?

Well, maybe you DO need tournaments, because this offer from Full Tilt is pretty cool.

It's the FTP Masters Series. You can win your share of $100,000, and you can qualify now through the Full Tilt Poker Series - Espana to play Spain's best and brightest in a televised live tournament series.

The three-day live event will test a range of essential poker skills to find the most complete poker player in Spain. The field will consist of 32 players, including the top 16 players from the poker series will be joined by players who qualify through Full Tilt.

You can qualify through a leaderboard system through three tournaments offered Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The buy-ins are fairly high, but you can satellite your way in for as little as $5.

This tournament series runs until Nov. 21, but start now to start collecting those points.

It seems there's a big tournament in just about every country now, and in Ireland, that means the Irish Winter Festival. Play now at Titan Poker to win your seat for the October tournament.

Satellites are running now, and packages, of course, include the buy-in, accommodations and airfare.

The satellites also offer three different structures so you're sure to find one that's comfortable for you.

Finally, if you're too busy watching the World Cup to play tournaments - and that would include Americans (seriously!) - then Titan has a deal for you. Play as many ring games for tournaments as you can, and you will win betting tokens for each day of the event schedule.

Then you get to pick a team based on entering a certain tournament. If you're correct, you can win an entry to a high freeroll or even cash. If you win the tournament you enter to make your pick, you get even more money.

OK. Maybe tournaments are fun after all.
