Christmas is coming and so is the season of 'do good, feel good' along with it. Poker players never need Christmas or a holiday to open their hearts and their pockets to events that afford funds to charitable organizations, especially when they can play poker and help at the same time. The Venetian Poker Room is the setting for the "All In For CP" No Limit Texas Holdem charity poker tournament that benefits the One Step Closer Foundation on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 4:00 pm.
The main goal of the One Step Closer Foundation is to help provide social acceptance and financial freedom for those suffering from cerebral palsy. One Step closer is a 501c (3) not-for-profit organization. Jacob Zalewski copes with cerebral palsy and developed the tournament in hopes that a cure would be found through events like these and the One Step Closer Foundation.
“We hope to see a future where cerebral palsy is a thing of the past,” says Zalewski. “We know are getting one step closer to that vision everyday.”
Expected to attend and participate: Cheryl Hines (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”), Jason Alexander (“Seinfeld”), Mekhi Phifer (“Lie to Me,” “ER”), Sam Simon (creator of “The Simpsons”) Montel Williams (TV talk show host) and Donnie Wahlberg (“Blue Bloods”).
Poker Stars invited guests include Poker Hall of Famer Mike Sexton, Chad Brown, Nolan Dalla, Alan Cunningham, Gina Hecht, Brian Herskowitz, Melissa Hayden, Lupe Soto, and Marsha Wagoner; with Guest Tournament Director Dianna Donofrio-Trigatzi.
The buy-in for the tournament is $500 plus $40 entry fee. Items will be auctioned off in a silent auction facilitated by Pacific Auctiono Company of Las Vegas.
