Bellagio Casino Robbery Suspect Arrested

Anthony Carleo was charged with three counts - burglary with use of a deadly weapon, trafficking of a controlled substance, and robbery with use of a deadly weapon after his arrest about 11 pm on Wednesday.  Anthony is suspected of wearing a motorcycle helmet into Bellagio's casino and stealing $1.5 million in casino chips while brandishing a gun on December 14th, 2010.  He may be the same person that robbed the poker cage area of a poker tournament room at the Suncoast Hotel & Casino earlier in December.

Esterellas Poker Tour Spanish Poker Awards

PokerStars proudly announces the 8 awards up for grabs in the Spanish Poker Awards: Estrellas Player of the Year, Online Qualifier of the Year, Grinder of the Year and Best Spanish Online Tournament Player which will be awarded based on players' own performance at the tables. Spanish Players' Choice of the Year, Outstanding International Achievement and Best Dressed Player will be voted on by Spanish players and finally the Best Poker Writer which is to be decided by the Estrellas judging panel.

Poker Raises Money for Charity

With Michael "the grinder" Mizrachi signing autographs and greeting fans at the recent Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, the charity poker tournament raised about $25K for the Davie-based David Posnack Jewish Community Center. "There's a lot of great poker players out there who are willing to give," said Mizrachi, noting the nonprofit Ante Up for Africa, founded by a group that includes actor Don Cheadle and poker pro Annie Duke. Mizrachis' three brothers, wife, and his mother all played the tournament.

Jack Ury Remembered

Jack Ury's fight for the bracelet at the WSOP Main Event is over.  His last attempt was to be the 2010 Main Event at the age of 97, his first being in 2007. Jack passed away at his home in Terra Haute, Indiana, this week. Along with being the oldest player, Jack is fondly remembered for slow rolling his sevens full of sixes against Stephen Friedlander's flopped sixes full of sevens.  Goodbye Jack, the WSOP just won't be the same.

Erik Seidel - A Great Player's 2011 Start

Erik Seidel hit the felt stacking right after the start of the new year when he took 3rd in the $5K 6-max NLH PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.  He hasn't slowed down with other wins tucked into his cash stash, his most recent being 1st place in the 2011 Aussie Millions $250K Super High Roller event - the biggest buy-in event in history. Erik is a true one-of-a-kind, a great person, a great poker player, and more than deserving of all things good coming his way.
