Gamble in Your Nevada Hotel Room

If Nevada bill AB294 is passed by NV legislators, patrons will be allowed to gamble on casino-issued mobile devices anywhere in a hotel-casino. Proponents of the bill say mobile gambling would mirror the way people use smartphones to talk and text; they are describing it as an evolution that bridges traditional card games on a casino floor and internet gambling.  Thirteen members of the Assembly are sponsoring the bill. Read the bill with amendments.

Bellagio Motorcycle Bandit to Face Trial

Anthony Michael Carleo, 29, accused of robbing $1.5M in gambling chips from Bellagio is going to stand trial. He's facing three counts of armed robbery, one count each of burglary, carrying a concealed weapon, and assault with a deadly weapon, and more. A confidential informant that helped police gather evidence against Carleo, Kian Kaveh, appears to be avoiding service of a subpoena - the defense wants to question Kaveh. An arraignment hearing is set for April 21st in District Court for Carleo.

Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval Favors Federal Legislation of Online Poker

Assembly Bill 258 would permit online poker within Nevada and in foreign countries where it isn't banned, the bill has been sitting in the Assembly Judiciary Committee and the chairman of the committee, Assemblyman William Horne, D-Las Vegas, intends to move the bill out of committee, despite the stance of the governor favoring federal legislation.  The political dance with internet poker continues as the poker players of the United States wait for the music to end. Perhaps there should be a law banning politicians.
