2011 Jennifer Harman Throw Down NSPCA

All the fun and festivities are taking place on Saturday, May 21st, when Jennifer Harman hosts the fifth annual Jennifer Harman Celebrity Poker Tournament at the Peppermill Resort Casino in Reno, Nevada. The Celebrity Poker Tournament benefits the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals No-Kill Shelter and is also the third annual Throw Down.  The Throw Down is an exciting poker team competition that has grown each year and is expected to reach over 1,000 participants this year.

The Throw Down tournament not only features a unique 10-player team format, but also allows individual player participation with each team led by a celebrity or a pro poker player. The top three finishing teams are determined by the Throw Down points system and awards are given to both: individual players and a Throw Down team with the top three teams receiving medals, team trophies, Throw Down Packs, and prize packages.  Finishers in the top 100 receive valuable prizes and additional prizes including bounties on celebrities and pros, 'pot sweeteners,' 'last woman standing,’ 'most re-buys,' 'on the bubble,' 'cracked aces,' and more will be waiting.

“The best thing about having a pet is experiencing their unconditional love,” says Harman. “The Nevada SPCA ensures these once abandoned and abused animals are cared for, adopted, or live humanely in its no-kill shelter for the rest of their lives. Everyone who participates is actually saving a life, and that means so much to me.”

The Heartland Poker Tour's Nevada State Poker Championship will take place in conjunction with the Jennifer Harman Celebrity Poker Tournament and will be included in the televised programming fall line-up and is expected to be viewed in over 100 million homes across America.

All proceeds from the Jennifer Harman Celebrity Poker Tournament will go to benefit the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). Contributions from past Jennifer Harman Celebrity Poker Tournaments have allowed the SPCA sanctuary to extend the community outreach program and expanded the facility with an official unveiling of The Jennifer Harman Wing in 2008.

The No Limit Holdem Jennifer Harman Celebrity Poker Tournament has a $200+$30 buy-in for individuals and $2,500 per team.  Register online by visiting Fundraising activities begin with a Pacific Auction Company silent auction starting at 11AM; Jennifer Harman Celebrity Poker Tournament at 1PM; and a Throw Down party at 8PM.
