As the world turns, the action at PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) continues to roll out winners. Day 9 of the WCOOP is in the books: Joel Adam “2FLY2TILT” Gordon came just short of his third WCOOP bracelet on Monday night as he finished sixth in the event #25 – $200 Pot-Limit Omaha Turbo. Despite not winning the event, Gordon has earned more points and kept the lead in the WCOOP Player of the Series race as well as collecting a $16,704 cash prize. Another big shot – Mickey “mement_mori” Petersen who was just accepted into Team PokerStars Online made it to the final table as well, only it was in event #24 – $300 Stud where he finished in third place for $10,868.

The day's events:

The event which gathered some well-known poker names including this year's WSOP bracelet winner Athanasios “Athanasios 9” Polychronopoulos ended up in a five-handed deal. Because of its international flavor with 9 final tablists coming from seven different countries, the negotiations even required a translator to sort things out. Finally it all came down to an only seven-hand heads-up battle between New Zealand's “prot0” and “gregor7878” from Poland. The pole quickly outplayed his opponent and collected his first WCOOP bracelet along with a prize of $158,627.

The final result:

The newest Team PokerStars member Mickey “mement_mori” Petersen from Denmark was among those reaching the next level, however, hitting the final table appeared to be too big of a challenge. He left the tournament in 70th place for $3,178. The WCOOP bracelet and the $293,512 prize went to “Flying Smile” from Russia; this was the first WCOOP trophy of his online carrier.

Unfortunately for Mickey he was not able to hold on to the leader position and hit the rail in third place for $10,868. It was “Big_Nemo” from Canada who came out victorious after beating United Kingdom's “Bilybob88” in the final play for the title and the prize of almost $20K.
