2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Schedule Announced

The biggest live poker tournament outside Las Vegas – the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure - has started its countdown with just 92 days to go until the event takes off on January 5th. The 2012 PCA
will come back to the Bahamas for the ninth time and will take place at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island. Sounds like a nice way to spend winter holidays doesn't it? Lying on the beach and playing a world renowned poker tournament – it doesn’t get any better than that!

The 10-day event will host a total of 41(!) tournaments with buy-ins starting at $270 + $30, including the $10,300 Main Event running from January 7th through 13th. The event is sure to attract a huge number of poker pros, featuring PokerStars Team pros as well as hundreds of PokerStars online qualifiers. There are going to be a lot of cameras at the 2012 PCA Main Event and the tournament will be filmed and then broadcast some time later.

“On behalf of our 7,200 associates here at Atlantis, we welcome the ninth annual PCA to the Bahamas,” said George Markantonis, President of Atlantis Resort. “We are honored to play a part in hosting this global event. We have watched the growth of this event and its evolution into a world-class tournament. It will bring more than 10,000 people from around the world to our island, and we look forward to welcoming many more participants in the future. We wish the players luck in the tournament and hope that everyone takes advantage of our amazing resort facilities and enjoys our warm Bahamian hospitality.”

While we wait for the upcoming 2012 PCA, let’s rewind to what was going on in the Bahamas just 9 months ago during the 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. The 2011 Main Event gathered a prize pool of more than $15,000,000, rewarding the winner Galen Hall with a cash prize of $2.3 million. The last PCA tournament also featured its first Super High Roller event won by PokerStars' own Eugene Katchalov who collected the first-place prize of $1.5 million.

Another PokerStars Team pro member, Daniel Negreanu, came in second in the Super High Roller, but despite the defeat he is anxious to get back to the Caribbean and play another PCA. “I’ve never missed the PCA and never will,” said Negreanu. “It’s grown each year and has become a must-play poker festival for every serious poker player. It’s not just about the Main Event, because there is a full schedule of events for both high- and low-rollers. There isn’t a better way to start off your 2012 than heading out to the PCA.”

Global Poker Tours Limited’s, (the company that organizes the 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure), managing director, Jeffrey Haas, is also looking forward to the upcoming event and says they are going to offer players everything from a wide range of poker tournaments to complete family holidays as well as some party action. “Each year the PCA offers the widest range of poker tournament formats, game variants and buy-ins available on the planet,” said Mr. Haas. “Nowhere else will players find tournaments with buy-ins from $300 to $100,000, or the kind of games provided in the schedule. We want the PCA to be FUN for players both at the tables and when they’re on the beaches, at the nightclubs, or in the restaurants. The PCA is for our players, and their friends and families. We’re privileged and honored to be welcoming thousands of them back for our ninth annual event.”

Everyone who wants to join the poker pros and hundreds of poker players from all over the world at the 2012 PCA tables in Bahamas this January is welcome to join PokerStars online and play the many online qualifiers and satellites that give away 2012 PCA Main Event seats and packages. Buy-ins to the PCA online events start at just $1.10, or 4 FPPs through the PCA Mega Path route. However, there's more to the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure than just the Main Event – a huge number of side events will take place as well with buy-ins starting at just $270 + $30. Plus, the poker festival will feature a $100,000 Super High Roller, a $25,000 High Roller, and a $1,100 Women’s Event. The World Cup of Poker will also join the 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure with nine teams playing for the $290,000 cash prize.
