Cannes, France is the new location of the 2011 World Series of Poker Europe and poker is running in full swing. Event #1 Day 2 started with 80 players but 10 levels of play left only 12 remaining. Event #2 began with the first of two flights and 381 players; this event could break last year's record of the largest WSOPE event.

Event #1: €2,680 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em — Guillaume Humbert Started the Final Day as Chip Leader

Day 2 of Event #1, the €2,500 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold’em, started with a change of venue when players were moved from the Hotel Majestic Barriere across the road to the Le Croisette Casino Barriere. The move didn't change the action or appear to bother any of the railbirds or media members. The new venue was all POKER, POKER, POKER!

Eighty players started the day and the plan was to play either 10 levels or get down to the final table of six; 10 levels won the race. Out of 80, 12 players remained and the leader of the pack was online player Guillaume Humbert who bagged 541,000 chips. This is Humbert's first major live tournament and the young Swiss player made a major chip move when he eliminated Day 1 chip leader Flavien Guenan. As the day drew to an end, Humbert also eliminated Johan Sundell and Humbert’s chips moved over the half million mark for the first time.

Breathing down Humbert's neck and on the verge of desperation for a WSOPE bracelet - with the Player of the Year award as well - is Phil Hellmuth. He took a great final level and moved over the 400,000 mark. Does second place sound familiar? Hellmuth is in second place on the chip leaderboard.

Notable players still in the field are David Benyamine (253,000), Anton Wigg (201,000) and Casey Kastle (119,000).

The final day resumes at 15:00 CET (06:00 PDT) - follow the action in Live Reporting. http://www.pokernews.com/live-reporting/2011-world-series-of-poker-europe/event-1-six-handed-no-limit-hold-em/

Event #2: €1,090 No-Limit Hold'em — Day 1a Field Led by Hinrichsen

October 8th kicked off with the €1,090 No-Limit Holdem event with 381 players coming for the first starting flight. Last year's largest WSOP Europe event - to date - had 608 entries; this event is expected to smash the record. Australian Andrew Hinrichsen leads the 54 player field that remains with 63,900 in chips

The field had many notable players and many of them hit the rail: Mike Leah, Jean-Robert Bellande, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Phil Collins, Jason Mercier, Erik Seidel, Barry Greenstein and Nacho Barbero all found the exit. Moving on to Day 2 are: Toby Lewis, Randy Dorfman, McLean Karr, Farzad Bonyadi, Richard Toth, Erik Cajelais, Eoghan O'Dea, Matt Waxman, and Dan Shak.

Day 2 starts Monday at 14:00 CET (05:00 PDT). Stay up to date with PokerNews Live Reporting Blog.
