A cash prize is added to each event. You don't want to miss any of the league events, you'll be playing to win a prize pool with cash added AND playing to compete in the final $10,000 League Event. League points will get you into the PokerNews League Final. The weekly tournaments award league points according to where players finish. One bonus point is awarded for each tournament you play in; play each weekly tournament and earn 10 points.
Each heads up tournament will award league points a bit differently due to the nature of the heads up format
The $10,000 PokerNews League at PokerStars is open to everyone, regardless of where you got your PokerStars account. Each league event requires a password. The password will be released on our 'tournament' page and our PokerStars Review at PokerWorks 48 hours before the league event begins.
Once you have your PokerStars account and are ready to play the $10,000 PokerNews League, don’t forget to pick one event where you earn double the amount of league points. Make sure you announce your 'wild card' tournament choice on the PokerWorks Facebook page in a wall post - right up to before the event starts. The double points’ award is only a one shot deal so choose wisely. And just playing in a tournament gives you one league point, so, using your wild card tournament results could put you high on the leaderboard.
The top 27 players at the end of the 10 weekly tournaments on the league leaderboard advance to the PokerStars League Final on December 21st at 21:00 EST (02:00 GMT). The $10,000 final will send the top 18 players home with cash:
There are seven additional region specific leagues in addition to the $10,000 PokerNews League. Each league is country specific and has the same payout structure listed above - the prize pools vary depending on the region. The Australasian League is open to all players, along with the $10,000 PokerNews League but each of the other leagues is locked to specific countries and will feature the same payout structure as above. But keep in mind there are varying prize pools dependent on the region. Players from each region can play in three PokerNews leagues and some players have the opportunity to cash in on $24,000 of added FREE prize pools! See the following:
Iberian League: The league features a $4,000 prize pool and is locked to players with accounts based in Portugal and Spain.
Western European League: The league features a $9,000 prize pool and is locked to players with accounts based in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Liechtenstein, Austria, and the Netherlands.
Central European League: The league features a $9,000 prize pool and is locked to players with accounts based in Slovenia, Balkans, Czech Republic, and Hungary.
Eastern European League: The league features a $9,000 prize pool and is locked to players with accounts based in Romania, Bulgaria, the Russian Federation, Poland, and Ukraine.
Nordic League: The league features a $4,000 prize pool and is locked to players with accounts based in Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden.
Baltic League: The league features a $9,000 prize pool and is locked to players based in Estonia, Israel, Turkey, Lithuania, and Latvia.
Australasian League: The league features a $5,000 prize pool and is targeted at players with accounts based in Japan, Korea, China, India, and Australia. (This league is also open to everyone.)
