The World Poker Tour (WPT) just announced that former "Poker After Dark" hostess Marianela Pereyra will take over as the new WPT anchor while Kimberly Lansing takes maternity leave in February. Marianela interviewed for the distinguished role and her quick wit, endless enthusiasm, and extensive poker knowledge set her apart from other interviewees.
Marianela will take over the anchor spot and be joined by WPT Commentators Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten, the Royal Flush Girls, and the WPT team from February 6th through 11th, 2012, at the televised WPT Venice event. The Grand Prix de Paris and the Venice stop are European events that will air on US television in Season X. Look for Pereyra's first appearance in the United States to be the LA Poker Classic Main Event at the Commerce Casino in February.
“The innovative position of WPT Anchor is integral to the World Poker Tour, and Kimberly Lansing has done a fantastic job establishing this role,” said WPT President Adam Pliska. “Marianela has impressive experience in the poker community and we know she’ll fit right in with the WPT family.”
Marianela hosted NVC's Poker After Dark and has covered a variety of events for CBS Sports, ESPN, and Fox Sports. She also served as VJ for FUSE TV, a music channel. She's well-known for her sense of humor and captivating personality and is a welcome addition to the World Poker Tour broadcast. Not only is she a passionate fan of poker, she's bringing a friendly face to the upcoming Season X events.
