Thor Hansen has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Hansen is a true poker legend and has played live action and tournaments for many years; holding two World Series of Poker bracelets, he is well known by many in the poker playing world.
Poker players are a generous lot and come to the aid of many in the form of charity poker tournaments. Last week Betfair Poker held a charity tournament for Hansen and PokerStars is going to run two tournaments this Sunday to help raise money for the Thor Hansen Fund.
Two charity tournaments will be held tomorrow, Sunday, February 19th, at PokerStars to help raise money for the fund which was established by Hansen’s close friends, Frode Fagerli and Andreas Høivold. Proceeds from both of the tournaments will help pay for Hansen’s treatment.
This from the European Poker Tour's Twitter account:
Keep in mind that there are two tournaments running on Sunday - the first starts at 19:30 CET (13:30 EST) which is a $10+$10 buy-in with $10 going into the player prize pool and $10 to the Thor Hansen Charity Fund. And at 20:00 CT (14:00 EST) the second one kicks off with a $50+$50 buy-in where $50 goes to the player prize pool and $50 to the Thor Hansen Charity Fund.
